Jesus. These pictures keep getting more and more horrible. This is one of the few topics that’s been able to make me immediately spout tears. The disaster is horrible for a multitude of reasons, including the destruction of an entire ecosystem and the lives of thousands of people, but there’s something about seeing a defenseless animal (or thousands, I guess millions of them) in pain because of something humanity has done. Sobbing over this is so novel to me - and what can I do besides share and talk and protest? HOW DO THE POWERFUL GET AWAY WITH THIS SHIT?!?!
